Bone Anchored Hearing Aids

A bone conductor consists of an abutment that is surgically implanted into the bone behind the ear.  The external sound processor (which is like a hearing aid) attaches either by clicking onto the abutment or via a magnet under the skin.  This device is an option for people who might meet one or more of the following:

  • Are unable to wear a conventional hearing aid because of obstruction of the ear canal
  • Have close to normal hearing in one ear and a profound hearing loss in the other ear
  • Have a conductive hearing loss

This device can be controlled via an app on your phone.  It is also compatible with Resound wireless accessories such as the phone clip or mini mic.  The phone clip enables you to stream phone calls via bluetooth.

This device can be fully funded through private health insurance if you have top-hospital cover.  (Check with your health fund).
