Hearing Rehabilitation

Hearing rehabilitation is the name given to services provided by Audiologists to assist people with a loss of hearing to meet their hearing needs. This normally includes fitting a device such as a hearing aid. In addition, the client is given strategies to optimise an individual’s hearing.

A unique part of our service at Pittwater Hearing is the attention we pay to auditory training and ongoing care. Getting used to the sound through a hearing instrument requires a lot of practice. The client may not have heard soft sounds or high frequency sounds for a long time, so there is a process of adaptation that can be assisted by an Auditory Training Program. Our Audiologist will provide you with exercises customised to your needs that will help you in getting the most out of your devices.

At most clinics, there are usually only 2-3 appointments after the hearing aid is fitted. At Pittwater Hearing we believe in the importance of ongoing care, with regular reviews every 6-12 months after the initial period of fine tuning the device. For first time hearing aid users, we recommend that you purchase your hearing aids as part of a hearing rehabilitation package, so that you can have an unlimited number of appointments with us to ensure that you are getting the most out of your devices.
